From Commenting to Copywriting: The Power of Interacting With Companies On LinkedIn

I woke up this morning and saw LinkedIn notifications pinging in left, right, and center on my cell phone. No idea why, because I don’t know that many people. Anyway, bleary-eyed, I clicked into the app to see what was up.

This next bit left me absolutely floored but in such a good way…🎉

So, a few weeks back I was having a lovely time commenting on a LinkedIn post from Milestone Systems. The post featured a video showing what their XProtect License Plate Recognition software could achieve. Even better, the video involved stop motion and Lego™ — I mean, what’s not to love about that? 😍

The very lovely Maike Krütt with Milestone Systems asked if I had any follow-up storyline ideas. Here’s what I came up with on the spot:

“Brick starts to feel overwhelmed by his recent success and the pressure of being an inspiration to many. Checking himself into the local hospital, Brick looks for medical help to cope with his mental health.

During his treatment, Brick begins to think about his previous life of crime and regresses. Walking out of a side door, Brick acts erratically and attempts to steal an ambulance.

Luckily, the hospital has recently installed Milestone Kite to help monitor the building and surrounding areas for safety and security. Brick is quickly found before he can take the ambulance, and is moved back inside to continue treatment.”

My short and sweet suggestion went over very well. With a promise from Maike to tag me if it ever went live, I really didn’t think it would do. Well, guess what?

It. Went. Live. 🌍

Click here to be taken to the follow-up storyline video that was so awesomely based on my copy, or watch it below.

Who knew that my short and sweet copywriting piece has now allowed me to become a fully-fledged, official SCREENWRITER*!! 😀

Who knew I had it in me? I didn’t, but I sure do now 💯

p.s. *I am absolutely not a screenwriter — I’m just enjoying the moment, so please let me 🙏
